Foster Bridge

Built in 1988-89, the AM Foster Covered Bridge glows in the light of the setting sun on the Cabot Plain. On this day I was lucky as the ice covered trees sparkled with the fading light of the day.

Photographs have a unique way of capturing a moment in time, a photograph creates an experience for the viewer. Have you ever wondered about the story behind the photo you’re looking at? This week, we’ll explore the story behind some of our favorite photos in the gallery.

Foster Bridge was taken in January 2023 in Cabot, Vermont by Bob Wagner. Bob had been out exploring Vermont all day and the sun was starting to set. As he was driving down a backroad, he came across this beautifully lit bridge. He noticed how the sun sparkled in the ice-covered trees and the Green Mountains rolled off behind it. The bridge, he later learned through the Vermont Covered Bridge Society, was built in 1988 and named after Alanso Merrill Foster. It has become a photographer’s destination for sunset photos and the perfect place to see the Milky Way galaxy at night.

The recommended medium for this photograph is canvas or paper print.
